How do you remove the rear drums to install new brakes/wheel cylinders?

Published by admin under Uncategorized

1996 F-350 Dually, 7.3L Diesel – How do you remove the rear drums to install new brakes/wheel cylinders?
Also, I may need to put new hub seals on one side (inner & outer?)… so, how do I remove the hub? any additional tips appreciated.

Answer:

F-250HD and F-350 Models
  1. Raise the vehicle and install jackstands.
  2. Remove the wheel. Loosen the rear brake shoe adjustment.
  3. Remove the rear axle retaining bolts and lockwashers, axle shaft, and gasket.
  4. Remove the wheel bearing locknut, lockwasher, and adjusting nut.
  5. Remove the hub and drum assembly from the axle.
  6. Remove the brake drum-to-hub retaining screws, bolts or bolts and nut. Remove the brake drum from the hub.To install:
  7. Place the drum on the hub and attach it to the hub with the attaching nuts and bolts.
  8. Place the hub and drum assembly on the axle and start the adjusting nut.
  9. Adjust the wheel bearing nut and install the wheel bearing lockwasher and locknut.
  10. Install the axle shaft with a new gasket and install the axle retaining bolts and lockwashers.
  11. Install the wheel and adjust the brake shoes. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle.

The seals just knock the old one out and use a flat piece of wood, lay it across the new seal and knock it in place with a hammer against the wood as to not damage the new seal.

My fuel guage in my 2003 3500 series only works when the tank is full and diwn to about thee quarters then goes to emty and stays there. The truck is a duramax diesel. I want to find out what the problem is so I dont take a lot of things apart that I dont have to!

The problem is with the fuel level sending unit that is mounted in the gas tank. Removal of the gas tank is required to access the top of the tank. This is a common failure issue on the chevy trucks.

need a low pressure compression switch for my 1995 S series Saturn

Published by admin under Uncategorized

I need a low pressure compression switch for my 1995 S series Saturn. That is what the mechanic called it. It is near the fuze box and is attached to a steel tube that appears to go to the AC compressor. My compressor will not turn on and it is getting hot–and the mechanic isolated it to this part. The problem is I do not have an owners manual and I do not live near a dealership-my questions are–what is the actual name of this part and do you have a part number you can give me so I can replace it.

Answer:

The color wires going to it are dark green and light green, right?
That is the AC High/Low pressure switch… The parts guide calls it pressure cutoff switch:
PARTS:

Pressure Relief Valve ……21031128   Price $20.58          Pressure Cut-Off Switch ……21030824  Price $18.85
