2000 porsche 996 C/2 Coolant recovery tank is leaking

Published by admin under Uncategorized

I have a 2000 porsche 996 C/2 Coolant recovery tank is leaking from below near the temperature sensor. Is the sensor a dry type and is this common occurance for the tank to leak.

Answer:

level sensor is incorporated with the recovery tank. There are not known problems with leakage but there are a couple TSB bulletins referncing problems witht he reovery tank giving false, low coolant readings. They have redesigned the tank and new part number issued. The old part and # are no longer available. Why leaking? unsure. Possible at seam or switch setting into tank. You must replace entire tank if confirmed leak is from there. here is TSB info below

 99 7 XS 62 5704, Coupe
99 7 XS 65 4287, Cabriolet

The new coolant expansion tank (part number, 996 106 147 55) prevents false illumination (flashing) of the coolant warning light when the volume of coolant fluctuates in the expansion tank. When replacing an engine on vehicles prior to the above VINs, the new type coolant expansion tank should also be installed.

The new coolant expansion tank can also be installed (on vehicles produced prior to the above VINs) for repeated complaints of coolant light flashing when there are no indications of overheating or coolant leaks.

Note: A thorough bleeding must be performed to ensure no residual air pockets exist in the cooling system.

 Parts Information: Part Number Description 996 106 147 55 New/Coolant expansion tank 996 106 147 54 Former/Coolant expansion tank, no longer available

I took it to Autozone to have the check engine light code read

Published by admin under Uncategorized

I have a 95 LeSabre, I took it to Autozone to have the check engine light code read. It is a series 1 (or l) what do they need to be able to read it? He said he couldn’t get a reading. Also, I have change the radiator(it had a hole), thermostat, and water pump and belt, all recently but the temp.light keeps coming on intermittently. For anywhere from 20 seconds to a minute. What could the problem be?

Answer:

A regular scan tool is required to read codes older than 1996. Most shops have these tools. Also, the Codes can be read without a scan tool How to Read GM Codes without a Scan Tool OBD I

Passenger window will go down but will not come up

This is usually caused by the drivers door switch or the passenger door switch to know for sure the switch would need to be checked electrically.

anti theft system…and suggestions on how to reset it

Published by admin under Uncategorized

i have just changed my batter on my 2007 toyota corolla and now my car just turns on then off.. i think its the anti theft system…and suggestions on how to reset it?

Answer:

It may not be just the antitheft system. This car has an immoblizer system so please be sure that you are usuing the correct key and that it has been programmed to the car.

But most likely the issue is the computer. It is very common on this model and don’t be surprised if the ECU is on backorder. In anycase the Dealer should provide you a rental while it comes in and is covered for 8yr/80,000 miles.

engine runs fine but just started to die at stop signs-lights

Published by admin under Uncategorized

1998 cherokee,4liter 6cyl,automatic,250K miles.engine runs fine but just started to die at stop signs-lights.starts right back up immediatly and idles fine until you accelerate and stop at the next sign. any ideas where to look for a malfunction, also there are no dtc codes or check engine lights

Answer:

with the amount of miles i would be checking for a vacum leak and clean the throttle body to remove any buid up that may restrict the idle controls it seems to be just responding slowly so a cleaning may resolve the problem
