THE AC BLEW COLD, THE LEFT SIDE IS NOT AS COLD AS THE RIGHT SIDE.
Question:
I HAVE A 1997 Mercedes-Benz E300 DIESEL. THE AC BLEW COLD WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR 5 YEARS AGO. THE LEFT SIDE IS NOT AS COLD AS THE RIGHT SIDE. I HAVE HAD THE SYSTEM CHECKED. IT IS FULL OF FREON. WHEN IT IS BLOWING ITS C OLDEST AIR , IT WILL FOR NO REASON FEEL LIKE THE COMPRESSOR IS OFF AND BLOW STALE SMELLING AIR. I DON”T KNOW IF IT IS MY IMAGINATION BUT IT GOES STALE UPON ACCELERATION. ONE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE COMPRESSOR IS PROBABLY JUST WORN OUT.THE CAR HAS 114000 MILES ON IT.WHAT DO YOU THINK?
ANSWER:
It could very well be just that the reed valves inside not opening and closing as good as they once did not allowing pressures to get to what they need to, Also the coil on the compressor could be getting weak to and letting it slip therefore not pumping like it should at times.
