Owners manual mentions timing belt changes

Published by admin at 12:55 am under Uncategorized

Question:

I recently bought a 2007 Civic and a 2008 Accord. Neither owners manual mentions timing belt changes like older models of each suggested (around 100,000 miles). Do these newer cars never need timing belts to be changed? I plan to run each one over 150,000 miles.

Answer:

Your civic has a chain not a belt, so there is no replacement mileage. the accord has a chain as well.

Honda is going away from timing belts these days in favor of chains .I like the chain motors they seem to last forever.
