starter does not activate when key is on

Question:

I have a 1995 Mazda b2300, starter does not activate when key is on. battery is good, touching battery directly to starter will activate it. fuses appear good. clutch switch condition unknown. Already Tried: starter, battery, battery terminals, fuses.

Answer:

Sounds like a bad Starter Relay or solenoid on the starter. Check for battery voltage at the “s” terminal on the solenoid when someone turns and holds the key in the start position. If you have battery voltage hear, the stater solenoid (starter assembly should be replaced) If no voltage, trace back through clutch switch and starter relay.
